ARC Review: ONCE AND FOR ALL

Louna, daughter of famed wedding planner Natalie Barrett, has seen every sort of wedding: on the beach, at historic mansions, in fancy hotels and clubs. Perhaps that’s why she’s cynical about happily-ever-after endings, especially since her own first love ended tragically. When Louna meets charming, happy-go-lucky serial dater Ambrose, she holds him at arm’s length. But Ambrose isn’t about to be discouraged, now that he’s met the one girl he really wants.

review

I received an advance reader’s copy from Penguin Random House (Viking) but this does not affect or influence my review.

OAFA is about letting go of the past, enjoying the present and accepting that the future is not fixed. I believe that this book could fall into New Adult or not yet there, but almost there? I don’t know if you get it, but the main character, Louna is about to enter College. The book revolves around Louna’s personal growth.

The book was written in past-present perspective, I actually enjoyed the present more than the past although the writing of Dessen never disappointed me. It is so full of wisdom and realizations in life, and very quotable quotes. The pace is very Dessen-like, it is fast and slow at the same time. So if you are a Dessen fan you would probably understand what I mean by that. I’ve read Sarah Dessen books before and I think that this is my new favorite because the story and the writing presentation is different from her previous books. All in all, I enjoyed the book so much even if I took all my time reading it.

This book is perfect for readers who love 99 Days and How to love by Katie Cotugno.
